Nobel peace prize concert in Oslo

I was fortunate enough to be asked to perform at the Nobel peace prize concert in Oslo Norway, as part of the Bollywood dance group Bollyflex.

I was so grateful for the opportunity as we would be sharing the stage with some music legends and also supporting an amazing cause.

We had a couple of rehearsals in London and then we boarded a plane to Oslo. The taxi was coming to collect me at 3:30am so I did not sleep much at all.

I was expecting the weather to be freezing so wore many layers, but infact it was the same temperature as the UK so ended up taking loads off.

Once we arrived we had a couple of hours to nap and grab a bite to eat before a tech run. The tech run was quite hard work to be honest as had little sleep and travelling just took all my energy out of me. But we made it through and then went out for dinner.

The next day we had some free time and I decided to explore Oslo and went for a little walk.
There was not much to see around the hotel but just felt nice to explore a little.

We then had another tech run to make sure everything would be perfect for the evening as it was going to be filmed.

I have included some photos below of the tech run and my walk around Oslo:

                                                                  Hotel Lobby

The show itself was amazing. We were lucky enough to meet The Norwegian Royal family, Steve Tyler, Queen latfiah, Prize winners Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi to name a few.
We also had a great time at the after party and danced the night away.
We then caught an early flight home the next day and Steve Tyler was on our flight! Such a lovely guy and amazing talent.
I then got off the plane back in London and travelled to my next dance gig in Swindon. But that is another post :)

I have included some more photos of the show below. You can watch the performances on Sky arts 1 Channel on Monday 29th December at 10:00 am and New Years eve at 01:45am. I will post a link when it becomes available online.

Some of the photos are not great quality but I have included them anyway. Enjoy the photos!

A night in paradise

First and foremost, I'd like to apologise for my absence in the blogger world.

I blame.. myself and the lack of internet in my house and the fact I have been very busy during December. Which means I have some great posts (if I do say so myself) coming up.

Lets go back to the start of December.

There was a disco/house music event on at the Ministry of Sound nightclub called 'A night in Paradise'
The event was in conjunction with World Aids day and leading HIV charities: New York's Gay Men's Health Crisis and the UK's Terrence Higgins Trust, with all profits from the event being split equally between the two.

The event started at 4pm and we got there early so there was plenty of time for dancing.
I forgot to menton I went along with some vogue dancers who definitely got the party started.

I am in awe of their confidence when it comes to freestyle. At first I was nervous taking part with people watching but in the end I realised most of these people would have been drinking and probably wouldn't remember much anyway.

The music was amazing, reminded me of what Studio 54 could have been like in New York.

We left the club at around 11pm and headed straight to a venue for a new style battle.
Two of the dancers were judging the battle so we took the opportunity to go watch.
I really enjoyed watching dancers from all styles battle each other. It was interesting to see the use of musicality and dynamics.

I then went back to my friends house and we cooked pasta and chatted until the wee hours of the morning. It got to 5:30 am and decided to call it a night.

I then had to get up at 8:30 am for work. It was a hardcore day. It is safe to say that pro plus got me through that shift but I would not have changed going out for the world.
I have added a couple of photos that were taken by Tim Vasvi during the night. Enjoy.
