It's a dummy kind of halloween

Ah Halloween! One of my favourite times of year!
I love getting dressed up with friends and going out to an event.

This year we got tickets to go and see RuPauls drag race season 4 winner Sharon needles perform.

The night started with a bottle of wine and applying a white contact in my eye. This usually takes the most time as I am still not used to touching my eyeball but throughout the years I have had practice.

Next was makeup time! My friends and I decided to go for a ventriloquist dead flapper look.

We took inspiration from this YouTube video and bought the costume for £10 off of EBay.
The outfit consisted of a 1920's dress, feather boa and headband with a feather.

The makeup I used was my usual base, concealer and powder.
2 sets of eyelure eyelashes
White Rimmel eyeliner
Black avonshock liner
MAC Cherry lip liner
Sleek contour palette
White contact lens
Fake Blood

Here is a photo below of the finished look.

The evening started off with some lip syncing drag queens and then was followed by a fire performer and a lizard looking burlesque act.

The host of the show Meth then performed an amazing lip sync act.
Sharon Needles then was next and her outfit was insane. She was dressed as Julia from hell raiser 2, so bloody muscle person with a white suit.

She sang some of her songs including my favourite Haunted house

This was then followed by some dancing and then a taxi home.

All in all it was an excellent night and I definitely want to go back and do it all again!

Here are a couple of photos from the night. I apologise for the low quality, I only had my phone and was zooming in some of the time.

Did you dress up for Halloween? Let me know!

Edinburgh and Madame Tussauds

This week has been a bit manic travelling around dancing and working in between.

I am in the middle of choreographing a hiphop solo for a 17 year old as I type this for their Christmas show. It's all go at the moment but very happy to have it like this!

So, Sunday morning was a train trip to Edinburgh with the Bollywood dance group I am in called Bolly Flex.

The train journey was roughly 6 hours and then we had some food and it was straight to the venue.

We had enough time to practice and then perform for the wedding guests.

The food at this wedding was insane especially the desserts! A whole table just filled with them. We were lucky enough to have some brought to us in our dressing room.

As it was getting on for 11:30pm and my train was at 7:30am I decided to call it a night and went back to my hotel room while the rest of the dancers stayed up drinking in the bar.
This meant sadly I did not get to wear my new dress! boohoo.

That train journey back home was long! I was an hour late to work and was completely knackered.

The next day I had an early start at work and then had to run to a tech rehearsal at Madame Tussads (Very random but also very fun)
We got given some food to eat and then free time with the waxworks. We had the whole place to ourselves it was amazing!
Here are some photos of me and the 'celebs'

We then had to perform on a tiny stage but we managed it just about.

The video of the Edinburgh performance is still being made so will update with that video once it is finished!
But for now here is a short routine that we performed in a previous show. Enjoy!

Just a little shopping spree

Tomorrow I am off to Scotland for one night only for a Bollywood dance gig.
The performance is for a wedding so therefore I had to find a suitable dress to wear after the performance when mingling with guests.

I managed to find this bargain dress from Miss Selfridge which was reduced from £45 to £15!!
You can't quite see in this photo but the sides of the dress are cut out which just gives it a little edge.
They have sold out online but if you have a store nearby you may find one in your size.

I then bought this necklace to go with the dress.
This was also from Miss Selfridge and was £14.50
I then saw this cute playsuit which would be perfect for summer next year or teamed with black tights and a jacket for a night out this season. This was reduced from £45 to £15 and can be found here

And this is what it looked like the changing room. I think a nice belt and necklace would make this outfit.
Next it was time to upgrade my phone and I decided to go with

The iPhone 5S. I could not afford the contract per month for the I phone 6 so this was the next best.
I am looking forward to using 4G as this will make surfing the web so much quicker.
And to go with a new phone I needed a new case:
This was bought just off a stall in a shopping centre in London and was £7.00.

And that is it for now.
I will probably post a some photos of me wearing the first dress (if I have any taken that is) and will update in my next blog post.
Hope you all have a lovely evening.

Music Video shoot and problem skin

Yesterday was an exciting day as I was filming for a music video.

The call time was 1:30pm which was lovely to have a lie in and the venue/house we filmed in was insane!

I'm not allowed to say too much about who it was for but the singer was lovely and very down to earth.
There was a bit of confusion with the brief and I was briefed the wrong costume to bring but it all got sorted in the end.

The shoot overran and one of my scenes got cut and I am not to sure if they are going to keep the other scene in. If they do I will post the video up once it is released.
A couple of photos of the amazing house:

This photo was taken inside the pool house

As I was getting my makeup done the makeup artist and I started talking about acne. I have started breaking out again after years of finally having clear skin. She told me to cut out wheat and sugar from my diet.
Has anyone tried this? I am trying to stop eating wheat as it bloats me so much. I find eating gluten free wraps or salads much better and doesn't give me  a stomach ache.

Sugar on the overhand is my downfall. She asked what I had for breakfast and I replied "Wheetos" I guess that just shows it. Wheat and sugar combined.

I am going to try hard and see if I can limit the amount of sugar I consume.

If you have any tips or advice on this please let me know!

Lets try cooking chilli con carne + recipe

First things first (I'm the realist..see what I did there?) I'm not the best cook.
I am pretty bad to say the least I do not particularly enjoy cooking but from time to time I want to give it a try.

Tonight I thought i'd try Chilli con carne.
I like to set a scene when I'm cooking and I like to play jazz music. (No idea why? I also play this genre when I am cleaning) So i put a bit of Louis Armstrong on and got ready.
The ingredients are
450g Mince beef
One onion
Half a can of chopped onions
Half a can of Kidney beans
Colemans flavouring sachet
Rice

First, put the mince and onion and a little oil into a pan and cook until brown.

I then had a little disaster! (This is obvious this would happen) I cannot use normal can openers, I do not know why I just cannot open cans! I have a battery powered one (No laughing) but the batteries had ran out and there was none in the flat!
I had to put Louis on pause, hob off and run down to the shop to get some.
After that dilemma I added the can of tomatoes, kidney beans and mixed the sachet with a little water and threw that in too!
Then just let the pan simmer for about 15-20 mins and cook the rice in a separate pan.
and Voila! Dinner is served.
I am impressed with myself. It actually tasted really nice and was so easy to make!
Let me know if you give it a go or have any other easy recipes I could try!

There is a Brr in the air

This week has certainly got a lot chillier and definitely a more Autumn feel!

I am not a great fan of the colder weather as I am prone to catching colds and find it hard to stay warm.
However I do love the festivities that come during these next few months.

As soon as I start feeling Summer has sadly passed I decide to start making my flat a bit more cosy.

This is where I start lighting candles and cosying up in front of the TV.

I love this Yankee Candle Collection that I bought in the sale last year for £9.99. Bargain!
It includes sample size candles which are perfect for my small studio flat as sometime strong candle smells can be a bit overwhelming!
This is the inside of the collection. It is in the shape of a book which I love and has 9 different candles.
These include:

Clean Cotton
Fresh cut roses
Lemon Lavender
Midsummers night
Midnight Jasmine
Vanilla Lime
Cinnamon Stick
True Rose
Sun and sand

As you can see I have used quite a few of them! I am currently burning Cinnamon stick which is perfect for this season.
I have to say that Lemon Lavender is my favourite so far!
Do you have a favourite Yankee candle? Let me know what candles I should buy next!

(Video)Waacking

And by this I don't mean going up to strangers and giving them a clout round their head!
No, this is a dance style that I have fallen in love with. It was formed in the 1970's in the disco era in LA.

It combines fast arm movements with footwork and posing. It is a freestyle dance so it can be pretty much whatever you want it to be.
I have been taking classes in London for a while now and to start with I was a bit nervous as freestyle is not my forte. The thought of just making something up on the spot made me want to throw up but with time I feel that I have improved.

Classes are regular at Pineapple dance studios and Studio 68 to name a few.
One of the teachers who I have learnt so much from goes by the name of Lady Venus.

She is fierce but also a friendly warm hearted person. She asked me to dance in her class promotion video which I have included a snippet below. I definitely recommend these classes to challenge yourself but to ultimately try something new and have fun!
Oh I am the girl in the red checked top.Let me know what you think? Enjoy!

Lazy Sunday and my next makeup purchase

Last night I went to a friends house warming who I have not seen in years!

It was lovely seeing them and catching up on so many things. I then checked the clock and it was 6am! Yikes!

I decided to just catch the first train home and not sleepso safe to say I have not moved from my bed today.

In other news my next makeup purchase HAS to be the new MAC Rocky Horror collection. I have been obsessed with this film for years and have been many times to see the singalong version and the theatre show.

This look is also devine
I will post a review if I manage to get my hands on some. The lipsticks are probably what I am most likely to get as the colours look lovely. I am going to an event on halloween so this is perfect timing!

Lets get started

So I thought i'd start a blog as I am in need of a new hobby and to put my thoughts down to paper. Or should that be website?

I am still learning this whole shabazzle but hopefully I will pick things up as I go along and be able to catch up on everyone else's lovely blogs.

I'm guessing I will mostly be writing about dance, fashion, beauty and anything else that seems to crop up in my life that I want to blog about!
